Dr. Dong Sub Kim

Dr. Dong Sub Kim is President & CEO of Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), responsible for national energy security. He leads the company that specializes in E&P, oil and product stockpile and lower carbon solutions including CCUS and hydrogen/ammonia. Dr. Kim also serves as co-chairman of Board for K-CCUS Association and chairman of the Energy & Mineral Resources Development Association in Korea.

Prior to joining KNOC, he was an assistant professor at the Ohio State University, a research advisor in Shell Westhollow R&D Center in Houston USA and a regional manager for Shell Global Solutions Asia-Pacific for almost 20 years. He led Engineering and Technical Development for upstream, midstream as well as downstream business sectors.

In 2009, he came back to Korea and joined SK Innovation as a CTO and President of Global Technology. During his tenure, he initiated and led a series of new and innovative business developments including Li-ion battery business for EV and making plastic using CO₂ as a raw material (CCU).

Then in 2016, he was appointed as a head of the Institute for the 4^th Industrial Revolution and the Dean of College of Information and Bioscience at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) as well as the Executive Director of AI Innovation Park. He led projects that apply AI/Big data to manufacturing industry as innovative solutions. Globally, he serves as a member of World Economic Forum (WEF) Advanced Manufacturing Committee and an advisory board for World Manufacturing Forum (WMF).

Dr. Kim holds BS & MS Degree in Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea. Also, he got a Ph.D. of Engineering from Ohio State University in 1989.
