Youth Powering the Energy Future

Young ADIPEC seeks to inspire tomorrow’s changemakers, empowering them to work together, unify around a common cause, and play a central role in creating a more inclusive and progressive energy future.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and with the support of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), ADIPEC 2024 will host the 12th edition of Young ADIPEC.

The programme epitomises ADIPEC’s drive to foster an inclusive, collaborative environment, with the representation of all communities, to ensure that the path to a sustainable energy future is shaped by a truly global community, and diverse voices can unite around a shared mission to deliver a fair and balanced energy transition.

The programme extends its impact by serving as a learning platform that actively engages high school and university students within the framework of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Field Trips

Recognising the benefits of learning through doing, participants will be taken to real-world energy field sites, training and innovation centres, energy workshop facilities and manufacturing plants.

These field trips will provide hands-on experience for students to further understand what it means to choose a career in the energy sector. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the different services and technologies in the industry while observing and engaging with industry professionals, witnessing energy systems in action and expanding their knowledge and understanding of the practical applications of their studies.

Ambassador Connect

This four-day programme during ADIPEC provides an opportunity for former participants of the Young ADIPEC programme to inspire current participants and to guide them to various energy career paths by sharing their experiences and the knowledge gained by joining the Young ADIPEC Youth Talks.

Young ADIPEC works with schools and universities to embed alumni engagement in school communities and the lives of the students, to create connections that are sustainable and accessible.

School Connect

School Connect, which takes places from May to October, aims to bridge the gap between classrooms and the energy industry, broadening the future talent pool for the energy industry and inspiring the next generation of energy leaders.

During the academic year, the School Connect team will run a series of hands-on workshops around STEM topics at select schools in the UAE, which will be delivered in partnership with Khalifa University. The interactive and inspiring learning experiences will cover themes from sustainability to innovation.

SANED

Meaning ‘to support’ in Arabic, Young ADIPEC’s SANED programme offers volunteering opportunities at ADIPEC 2024, designed to help university students and young professionals gain valuable experience, develop new skills and build their networks within the energy industry during ADIPEC 2024.

The volunteering opportunities range from moderating sessions and coordinating the Youth Talks to supervising volunteers and conducting Young ADIPEC exhibition tours.

Youth Talks

Youth Talks offer a forum for the next generation of energy professionals to connect with leaders and experts from the industry at ADIPEC, the world’s largest energy exhibition and conference. The series of sessions also offers the industry a unique opportunity to connect with, engage and empower today’s youth.

Youth Talks builds on ADIPEC’s mission to serve as an inclusive platform and provide a more powerful voice and global stage for the entire energy community, with a view to inspiring the next generation to play a bigger role in addressing critical energy challenges and supporting the energy transition.

Experimental & Edutainment Hub

The Experiential & Edutainment Hub is an on-site learning platform designed to win the hearts and minds of today’s youth and highlight the wealth and diversity of career opportunities in the energy industry.

The Hub offers eight engaging educational zones for students within the framework of STEM education and is positioned in Hall 14 at ADIPEC, which takes place at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre from 4-7 November 2024.

University Connect

Through this initiative, students from universities across the UAE will have the opportunity to participate in ADIPEC’s Innovation Sessions and sessions in the Youth Innovation Zone, which showcases innovative energy-related research being done by university students.

University Connect aims to connect the UAE’s young innovators with industry leaders over the four days of ADIPEC. These connections are intended to give students a glimpse of potential career opportunities within the energy industry. The initiative also empowers students to exchange opinions and ideas, meet young energy professionals and connect with senior representatives from the industry.

Methane Abatement Challenge

The Methane Abatement Challenge is an exciting opportunity for high school students to showcase their innovative ideas to reduce methane emissions, empowering them to actively participate in climate action and contribute to a sustainable future.

Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the competition is open to students from schools across the UAE. After a robust judging process, finalists will present their solutions at ADIPEC on 5 November.

Students are encouraged to get out of their comfort zones, leverage their critical thinking skills, engage with their communities and embrace their social and environmental responsibilities.

It's always a pleasure to come and see this great annual event which demonstrates the importance of the UAE – the people in this field, in the petrochemical field, in the oil field. I like to come here to see and to thank ADNOCs emphasis on the youth. To show them the opportunities available for them in the future so they enroll in petrochemicals.

The future leaders are the wealth of the nation. It’s not the oil, it’s not the gas, it’s the human capital. We are bidding on them to be positive contributors to solving future energy problems. With them the idea starts and… from them the solution will come.
