Aligned with the most important pillars driving the global energy transition today, the new 2023 ADIPEC Awards categories emphasise the need for universal access to cleaner, more secure energy; tangible and credible solutions to impact change; and transformational progress for the advancement of humanity.
ADIPEC is an inclusive platform that enables collaboration, supporting the entire energy ecosystem and beyond to foster game-changing partnerships. This award aims to spotlight how industries are coming together to realise a cleaner energy future and finding ways to navigate political and economic challenges.
The winners will be two companies that have launched a large-scale joint venture in 2022 aiming to develop cleaner energy systems while maintaining energy security and operational stability. Entrants are welcome from energy companies that have partnered with organisations outside of the energy industry.
Energy security is fundamental to ensuring that developing economies are able to maintain the economic development that will improve billions of lives over the coming decades. At the same time, the world is working towards achieving critical decarbonisation goals.
This award spotlights energy companies that are proactively implementing the technologies, policies, or business strategies supporting lower-carbon development and growth in developing economies. The award will recognise companies that originated and are based in a developing country and have made a significant research and development announcement in 2022 that is now in the implementation process.
As expectations rise for the energy industry to implement credible hydrogen solutions at scale, this award will recognise companies that have launched a significant green hydrogen project or joint venture.
The aim will be to select an initiative that demonstrates the important role green hydrogen can play in supporting the energy transition, as well as its commercial value for energy businesses.
Pioneering technologies will continue to play a critical role in the energy transition. With 40% of emission reduction targets reliant on solutions not yet at mass-market scale, it is imperative to acknowledge the importance of disruptive thinking in creating clean energy innovations with the potential to accelerate emissions reduction across all industries.
The award will recognise a company that has made a significant cleaner energy technology research and development announcement in 2022, which is now in the process of implementation.
Implementing decarbonisation solutions at scale is an ongoing challenge in every sector. This award aims to recognise projects and initiatives that have demonstrated their ability to accelerate decarbonisation in any industry and have shown the potential to be implemented at scale.
The project may impact the global energy industry, hard-to-abate sectors, financial institutions, policy imperatives and approaches, and leverage impactful technologies, such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), or nature-based methods of CO2 recycling and removal. The relevant decarbonisation project must have been fully operational since at least 2022.
Challenges and transformative change give rise to new demands for exceptional talent to both support and drive progress to advance the next-generation energy system.
This award honours a young professional, born during or after 1993, who has made valuable changes within their organisation and is demonstrating strong potential to ascend to senior management, with the capacity to be a key contributor to the development of the industry and a pioneer in building a better energy future.
The individual will have demonstrated outstanding performance in their chosen field within the industry with measurable impact at a local, regional or international level; the ability to adapt to an evolving work environment, new challenges or similar; and the ability to influence, collaborate and lead as appropriate to their role and responsibilities.
A responsible energy industry still has a great need and many opportunities to engage and inspire the young talent required for the energy transition to succeed. This includes new messaging, new value propositions and operating models to engage and inspire tomorrow’s changemakers, helping them drive transformational progress.
The award acknowledges the active efforts of an organisation laying the groundwork for future talent via outreach programmes for youth or young professionals – whether through skill development or technical certification programming, energy industry mentorship programmes, internships or similar activities. This must also measurably include inclusivity in the form of diverse representation across gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, education and national origin as appropriate for the community in which the programme operates.
Spotlighting an individual, not limited to the energy industry, for outstanding leadership in driving responsible cross-sector action to secure a more sustainable energy future. The winner will have a proven track record of advocating game-changing partnerships and coordinating key stakeholders in the private sector, public sector, and NGOs to deliver credible energy transition strategies that have a truly global impact.
