Mr. Gascó is fully proficient in Spanish and English and speaks German, French and Portuguese at intermediate level. During his 25 year plus career, Carlos Gasco has treasured a vast experience in the public and private sectors. His expertise and network expands deep into Spain, the EU, the Americas and the Middle East. Given his track record in both the Policymaking and Private investment, he is uniquely position to understand and support the decision making process in a number of geographies, technologies and markets in relation with the global Energy Transition. Back in 1998 he was Director of the Cabinet of the Deputy Minister for Economy and Energy of Spain, in the Federal Ministry of Economy. From 1996 to 1998, he was Advisor of the Spanish Vice-President of the Government and Minister of Finance. Member of the Economic Policy Committee in the European Commission from 1997 to 2003. In 2005, he was appointed Director General of the Fundación de Estudios Financieros (Financial Studies Foundation) and Assistant Secretary General of the Instituto Español de Analistas Financieros (Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts) in Madrid. From 2007 to 2010 Carlos Gascó joined Iberdrola Renewables, the Spanish-based energy giant, as Head of the Regulation Department. From 2007 to 2011 he was Vice Chairman of the Global Wind Energy Council and Board Member of the European Wind Energy Association. In January 2011, he joined the Renewable Energy Division of the International Energy Agency in Paris, as Senior Analyst. In 2013 Mr. Gascó returned to the Public Service in Spain, as Senior Advisor for Energy Policy Affairs to the Minister of Energy, and later as Executive Director of the Office of the President of SEPI (National Public Industrial Holding Corporation), a group of public industrial companies with over than 80.000 employees, covering different strategic sectors and markets of the Spanish Economy, (such as aerospace, satellite communications, spatial planning, or nuclear waste management). From 2014 to 2018 Carlos Gascó Travesedo was Senior Advisor for International Corporate Affairs in Iberdrola, a privately owned utility, with a workforce of over 35.000 and some 80 billion euros in market capitalization. The company, considered the largest private developer of renewable energy at global scale, strategically invests in different markets and technologies across five continents. From late 2018 Carlos Gascó Travesedo has been Acting Energy Policy Executive Director in the Department of Energy (DoE) of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in the UAE. In that position, Carlos Gascó is responsible for the management of three General Directorates (Policy Development, Planning and Sector Risk and Modelling and Innovation), and reports directly to the Undersecretary and Chairman of DoE. DoE Chairman is a member of the Executive Council of Abi Dhabi.
