Dr. Alexander Ritschel

Dr Alexander Ritschel is Masdar’s Senior Advisor on green hydrogen. Masdar is a global clean energy powerhouse, active in over 40 countries and headquartered in the UAE. Dr Ritschel focuses on business development activities of green hydrogen and green fuels projects. Dr Ritschel became involved in energy and water research in 2001, by advising the California Energy Commission on the structuring and implementation of a public interest energy research program. Since then, he has worked at the University of California, Merced, where he established the UC Merced Energy Research Institute and conducted research on advanced solar systems. He also worked as a consulting engineer at Lahmeyer International, where he was responsible for the design and engineering of utility-scale photovoltaic power plants in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Dr Ritschel received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Vienna University of Technology and an M.A. from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He has written several scientific papers, journal articles, and conference papers on clean energy
