A project developer/entrepreneur with wide-ranging expertise gained through a history in international business spanning 35 plus years. As founder of Balico, LLC has led development & financing activities on over 5,000MW of private power projects in the United Sates and internationally with total valuation approaching $5b. Most recently, led the development of Chickahominy Power, a 1,750 MW Natural Gas Combined Cycle merchant power plant located in Charles City County, Virginia. In early stages of evaluating/developing a 2,000MW coal/gas/CCS/H2 Greenfield site in West Virginia and Ohio. Served as member of the Tysons Land Use Task Force in Virginia for four years as an appointee of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Was a member of several subcommittees and played a key role in shaping the new Comprehensive Plan for Tysons Corner. The plan was unanimously adopted by the County Board in June 2010 which has since led to robust TOD redevelopment activity in Tysons. Founder of DigiKerma, Inc. (CarbonKerma) an innovative Blockchain based initiative to help speed up the deployment of Carbon Capture Utilization Storage (CCUS) technology by creating a monetization path for CO2 emissions removal. In August 2021, was tasked by the presiding President of the United Nations Group of 77 (G77+) to assemble and lead a panel of CCUS experts and provide the G77+ insights into the vital role of carbon capture technology in any just energy transition to a low carbon future. The well attended meeting took place in the General Assembly at the UN headquarters in NYC and a follow up is being planned. Managing Member of TharPak, LLC, serving as Chairman of the TharPak consortium of companies, bringing leading edge clean coal technologies to develop a mega energy complex in Pakistan based on Thar lignite coal, including synthetic natural gas, coal to liquids and CCUS. Pursuing innovative ideas to spur sustainable economic development with a focus on addressing energy poverty and food security by forming strategic partnerships and alliances.
