Dr. Steven F. Stanley

Steven F. Stanley, Ph.D. joined revolutionary carbon recycling company LanzaTech Inc. as Chief Commercial Officer in May 2022. He has more than 30 years of technical and business experience in the global petrochemicals industry, having successfully conducted business in nearly 50 countries and maintaining profit and loss responsibility for eight global businesses. After beginning his career as a research engineer at Shell Chemical Company in Houston, Texas, Dr. Stanley joined Union Carbide Corporation serving in several management positions at its headquarters in Danbury, Connecticut supporting the renowned UNIPOL™ PE & PP global process technology licensing businesses. Upon the acquisition of Union Carbide by The Dow Chemical Company, Dr. Stanley became Senior Business Director of UNIPOL™ PP Licensing & Catalyst and relocated to Midland, Michigan, where he later was appointed to Dow’s Global Leader Team as Global Business Director of Dow Performance Fluids, Epoxy & Specialty Chemicals business group, leading a portfolio of six global businesses. Dr. Stanley was subsequently recruited by Dow leadership to become Vice President, Commercial of Univation Technologies LLC, a global UNIPOL™ PE process technology licensing and catalyst joint venture company between Dow and ExxonMobil Chemical in Houston, Texas. He served from 2015 to December 2021 as President and CEO of Univation Technologies, thereafter providing consulting services to the polymers and petrochemical industry until his appointment in LanzaTech. Dr. Stanley holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and has been inducted into their Academy of Science & Engineering.
