Eng. Ahmed Ali Al Subaey

An accomplished executive with more than 40 years of local and international leadership experience, Eng. Ahmed Ali Al-Subaey currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Bahri.

Leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience in various fields including strategy development, sales and marketing, operations, and business development, Eng. Al-Subaey leads the development of Bahri’s portfolio of services as well as boosting the company’s capabilities, expanding its market footprint, and diversifying into new business lines. He also oversees efforts focused on enhancing Bahri’s position within global markets and creating added value for shareholders, with the goal of consolidating the company’s global leadership in maritime logistics and allied industries.

Eng. Al-Subaey joins Bahri on the strength of a distinguished career journey spanning over four decades at Saudi Aramco and its affiliates. Most recently, he was Vice President of Marketing, Sales & Supply Planning in the parent company. His progression throughout his remarkable career demonstrates his commitment to professional and personal growth, enabling him to become a leader who drives his company and team towards exceptional success.

Previously, Eng. Al-Subaey has served as President of the Saudi Petroleum Ltd. in Tokyo, President and CEO of Saudi Petroleum International Inc. in New York, and CEO & Representative Director of S-Oil in Seoul.

Eng. Al-Subaey currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company (Luberef) and Saudi Petroleum Overseas Limited (SPOL). He also sits on the boards of several other Saudi Aramco subsidiary and joint venture companies, including the Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) and Korean engineering and construction major POSCO E&C. Since 2015, Eng. Al-Subaey is a member of Bahri’s Board of Directors and was appointed CEO of Bahri on 1 April 2022.

Al-Subaey was awarded the “Most Respected CEO of the Year” honor in 2009 by the Korean CEO Association. An avid golfer, he also enjoys learning new languages. In addition to Arabic and English, he also speaks German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.

Eng. Al-Subaey earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Northern Arizona University and holds an Executive MBA from Stanford University.
