Toshiaki Takimoto

Toshiaki Takimoto is Director, Managing Executive Officer, Senior Vice President of Hydrogen & CCUS Development at INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX), the largest oil and gas exploration and production company in Japan. He assumed this role in 2023 and is responsible for the hydrogen, ammonia and CCUS/CCS project development.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Takimoto served as Managing Executive Officer, Senior Vice President of New Ventures & Global Exploration and was responsible for the exploration, M&A and business development of oil & gas upstream projects. From 2018 to 2019, he served as Executive Officer, Senior Vice President of America and Africa Project Division and was responsible for the E&P projects in the Americas and Africa region. From 2016 to 2018, he served as General Manager of Global Exploration based in Tokyo and was responsible for the exploration, technical evaluation and acquisition of new global exploration opportunities. From 2013 to 2016, he served as General Manager of INPEX’s London Office where he was responsible for exploration projects in the UK and for certain segments of projects in the Caspian Sea region, including the ACG oil field in Azerbaijan and the Kashagan project in Kazakhstan. He was also in charge of locating upstream business opportunities in SubSaharan Africa, the Northern Atlantic Margin including Norway and northwestern Europe through leading technical evaluation work and commercial negotiations.

Mr. Takimoto has more than 35 years of experience in upstream operations and new business development in the Americas, Africa, Europe and Japan. He has also been involved in various projects and new business development in Latin America, where he led INPEX’s business development and operations in Venezuela as General Manager of the Caracas Office.
