Eng. Ahmed Al Dhaheri is the Chief Executive Officer of NMDC Energy P.J.S.C, a position he has held since 2018. His journey started with the company in 2009 as a board member. Mr. Al Dhaheri has over 25 years of in-depth experience in the industrial sector.

He leads the current business and transformation of the company and oversees the growth strategy, focusing on new markets and capabilities while driving operational excellence across all levels.

In addition to his current role, Mr. Al Dhaheri serves as Chairman of NTS Group and Vice Chairman of Enersol. He also sits on the boards of various companies and serves as Vice Chairman of GAL, Chairman of NPCC Engineering Limited (NEL) and ANEWA, board member of PRINCIPIA France and Gordon Technologies.

Prior to joining NMDC Energy P.J.S.C., he was the Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Steel, where he played a leading role in the delivery of the company’s expansion strategy. In addition, he was spearheading all the projects related to the expansion of the business, in his role as Project Director and subsequently as Senior Vice President, Projects & Strategy at Emirates Steel.

Mr. Ahmed Al Dhaheri holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Miami, Masters Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University and an Executive MBA with honors from UAE University, as well as a certificate in CXO Development Programme from INSEAD.

Reshaping project delivery: how EPC models are evolving for energy at scale

Delivering energy addition at scale requires infrastructure to be built faster than conventional models allow, yet the delivery system is under strain. Transformer lead times now stretch beyond three years, fabrication capacity is fully committed and skilled workforces are stretched across every major market. The traditional contracting model, built for sequential decisions and fixed-price certainty, is not equipped for this pace or complexity. In response, delivery models are evolving: owners and contractors are integrating earlier, sharing risk from the outset and aligning incentives around speed and performance, while modular fabrication and digital tools are compressing timelines and strengthening cost discipline. The markets that have adopted these approaches are commissioning assets fast enough to attract capital away from slower-moving regions. Execution capability has become as decisive as strategy in determining where energy investment flows.
