Nicolas de Coignac is an international industrial leader with more than three decades of experience transforming businesses across the energy, oil & gas, automotive and manufacturing sectors. As CEO of John Cockerill Hydrogen, he is focused on scaling hydrogen technologies that help industries and nations advance their decarbonization ambitions.

Prior to joining John Cockerill, Nicolas spent most of his career with Vallourec, holding several executive leadership roles across multiple regions and markets. Throughout his career, he has led major transformations including acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, while steering organizations through challenging market environments.

Having lived and worked for nearly 25 years across the United States, Argentina, India and Tunisia, Nicolas brings a global perspective to industrial development, energy security and the scaling of emerging technologies.

Nicolas joined John Cockerill in 2022 and became Chief Executive Officer of John Cockerill Hydrogen in July 2025. As a member of the Group Management Board, he contributes to the strategic development of the company's hydrogen activities worldwide.
