Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab serves as the Chief Operating Officer of PETRONAS with effect from 1 February 2026, following his earlier appointment as Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer of Upstream on 1 July 2024. He brings extensive experience in the Upstream business, built through a series of senior leadership roles, including Vice President of International Assets and Vice President of Malaysia Assets. His professional experience also encompasses board-level responsibilities, having served as an Independent Board Director of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. and PC International Ventures Sdn. Bhd., contributing to strong governance and strategic oversight. He started his career journey with PETRONAS in 1990 as a Reservoir Engineer. Since then, he held various leadership positions both in Malaysia and international operations, including as the Senior General Manager of Petroleum Resource Development for PETRONAS’ Petroleum Management Unit (PMU), Executive Assistant to the President, Chairman of PETRONAS Sudan, Head of Peninsular Malaysia Operations (PMO) and Head of Petroleum Engineering. Over the course of 30 years with PETRONAS, his notable achievements include leading the negotiations for the 2008 PSC and the Baram Delta Oil (BDO) Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) PSC. He was instrumental in establishing the Risk Service Contract (RSC) framework to monetize stranded marginal fields in Malaysia, and in developing PETRONAS’ Decommissioning and Abandonment Framework for post-production assets. During his international assignment, Jukris played a critical role in safeguarding PETRONAS’ interests throughout the pre- and post-separation phases of South Sudan from Sudan. Jukris also actively participates in industry events, delivering keynote and serving as a panel speaker around the globe. His notably appearances include Energy Asia 2025, International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) 2025, ADIPEC Leadership Roundtable 2024, GE Leadership Forum, Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2018 and various SPE Events. Jukris is an alumnus of Texas Tech University which he holds a B.Sc in Petroleum Engineering. He attended the INSEAD Management Development Program in April 2006, and the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at the Wharton Business School of University of Pennsylvania in 2015.
