Maurice Berns is a Managing Director and Senior Partner in the London office of BCG. He is Chair of BCG’s Center for Energy Impact and leads Energy & Climate within the BCG Institute. From 2017-2022, Maurice was the global leader of BCG’s Oil & Gas Sector. Maurice began his career with InterMar Trading in Hamburg, Germany, where he traded and hedged physical oil and derivatives, and developed risk mitigation strategies for producers and refiners. Subsequently, he spent three years in Buenos Aires with Wintershall Argentina, where he led oil and gas marketing, and later worked in business development, including implementation of LPG and pipeline projects. In 2001, Maurice joined BCG’s energy practice in New York, and has worked out of BCG's Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Mumbai, Houston and London offices. While at BCG, Maurice has advised his clients on a broad range of topics including strategy, operations, commercial development and transformation. He has worked across the value chain in Oil & Gas, Utilities, Networks and Renewables. He is a member of the IBDE Energy Security Advisory Group. Maurice is a regular delegate and speaker at various global conferences including the Davos World Economic Forum and New York Climate Week. Maurice earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar, in the top 5% of his class. Prior to that he studied at Duke University and completed a Bachelor of Arts with honors (Magna Cum Laude).
