Horacio Marín is a chemical engineer graduated from the National University of La Plata. In 1994, he obtained a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and, in 2009, completed the Executive Programme at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has over 38 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, leading operations and growth strategies in Argentina and other countries in the region. In recognition of his professional career, in 2024 he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Texas at Austin and the ‘Ing. Gerardo M. Lasalle’ Award from the National Academy of Engineering. In 2025, he was named Argentina’s Entrepreneur of the Year® by EY in the Executive category, recognized as CEO of the Year by El Cronista, Apertura and PwC Argentina, and named an illustrious graduate by the National University of La Plata. His leadership at YPF As Chairman and CEO of YPF, he leads the 4x4 Plan, a transformation strategy aimed at positioning the company as a world-class shale enterprise. Under his leadership, YPF is achieving record levels of performance and historic results, underpinned by a management approach centered on operational efficiency and the creation of value for shareholders. The company is currently focused on accelerating the development of Vaca Muerta and making progress on strategic projects such as Vaca Muerta Oil Sur (VMOS), Southern Energy (SESA) and Argentina LNG – key initiatives aimed at consolidating Argentina’s position as a major player in international energy markets and a leading energy exporter. In recognition of these achievements, YPF was named Regional Company of the Year 2025 by the World Energy Council (WECA), and the La Plata Refinery was awarded the Refinery of the Year title by LARTC for the second-year running.
