H.E. Karim Badawi was appointed as the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral on 3rd of July 2024.

H.E. Minister Badawi has over 25 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. He started his career at Schlumberger Egypt back in 1996, where he held various positions in Operations, Information Technology, Training, Digital Transformation and Energy Transition departments.

During the period from 2006 till 2017, he got several slb assignments and managed projects in Middle East, North Africa, Russia and Central Asia. In 2018, he became slb Managing Director of Egypt and East Mediterranean Region. He then became slb Director for Enterprise Digital Performance, leveraging Digitalization as key enabler to drive new benchmarks of performance and strengthen slb’s efforts to be a key strategic partner of choice in the Energy sector around the world.

He became Director New Energy, slb Middle East & North Africa where he managed projects related to improving management and efficiency in oil, gas and decarbonization fields and preparing for new and clean energy systems, all while ensuring environmental balance to reduce emissions and achieve ambitions regarding new energy.
