As Director General of Regulatory Affairs, His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Obaidli is responsible for managing and directing the strategic initiatives of Regulatory Affairs and f or developing policies and regulatory frameworks that contribute directly and strategically to the development of the power, water, district cooling, and petroleum product s sectors. Prior to joining the Department of Energy, H.E. Al Obaidli served as Chief Operating Officer of Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, where he oversaw the delivery, management, and operations of its global renewable energy portfolio, in addition to the Engineering, Supply Chain, and Energy Services functions. Earlier in his career, he spent five years at TAQA, leading its domestic power and water generation business and overseeing a portfolio with a generation capacity of 22.4 gigawatts and water desalination capacity of 1,120 million imperial gallons per day. Prior to that, he served as General Manager of Masdar subsidiary Shams Power Company from 2015 to 2018. With close to 20 years of experience across the energy and utilities sector, including renew able energy, H.E. Al Obaidli has held board positions at several energy and utility companies across the UAE and the globally, including Masdar Americas, MW Energy, Terna Energy, Infinity Power Holding, TAQA Morocco.
