Katherina Reiche is Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy since May 2025. A chemist by training, she served as a member of the Bundestag from 1998 to 2015, holding key leadership roles including Deputy Chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group and Parliamentary State Secretary in multiple ministries. She later led the Association of Local Public Utilities and was CEO of Westenergie AG, a German energy service and infrastructure provider with 11,000 employees. Born in Luckenwalde in 1973, Reiche combines scientific expertise with decades of political and executive leadership and is a mother of three.
