Anna Spektor is Head of Oil & Gas for the Middle East and Eastern Europe at Linde, with over 19 years of international experience across the energy, industrial gases and engineering sectors. In her current role, Anna leads Linde’s Oil & Gas activities across the Middle East and Eastern Europe, working with leading national and international energy companies across upstream, refining, petrochemicals and gas infrastructure. Her focus includes industrial gas technologies and services that support operational reliability, efficiency, asset integrity and the evolving requirements of the energy sector. During her career with Linde and Praxair, Anna has held engineering, project management, commercial and business leadership roles across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, giving her a broad perspective on both mature and rapidly developing energy markets. With experience spanning conventional energy operations and emerging lower-carbon applications, Anna brings a practical industry perspective to the energy security debate, particularly around resilience, security of supply, infrastructure readiness and the role of gas within an increasingly diversified energy mix.

Energy security and resilience debate: renewables, nuclear and gas

Rising demand, grid pressure and geopolitical disruption are forcing countries to combine renewables, nuclear, gas, storage and smarter grids. But how do these technologies perform when systems come under real-world stress? Through scenarios including supply disruption, extreme weather, grid instability and sudden demand growth, the debate will test their competing strengths: the scalability and energy independence of renewables, the reliable low-carbon power provided by nuclear, and the flexibility and dispatchability of gas. The central question is which combination offers the greatest firmness, flexibility and resilience, and at what cost.
