Amir Gerges is an international energy executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience. As Acting Director of The Executive Office at ADNOC, he serves on the Executive Leadership Committee and oversees Executive Affairs, Corporate Strategy and Market Intelligence, Value Assurance, Group HSE, Group Sustainability & ESG, and business continuity across the Group’s portfolio. He is responsible for translating ADNOC’s long-term ambitions and strategic priorities into measurable outcomes, strengthening enterprise alignment and value creation, advancing sustainability and aligning decision-making. Before joining ADNOC in 2024, Amir spent 26 years with Shell in technical and leadership roles across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. His experience spans upstream development and operations, global safety leadership, strategy and portfolio management, major project delivery and post-merger integration. Amir holds bachelor’s and master’s engineering degrees from the American University in Cairo. He is a Fellow of the Energy Institute, a Chartered Petroleum Engineer and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers. He has also held Board roles with the Texas Oil & Gas Association, the Permian Strategic Partnership and the Permian Road Safety Coalition. Outside work, Amir enjoys Formula 1, golf and football. He and his wife, Marlene, have two children, Luca and Malika.

He holds BSc and MSc degrees from the American University in Cairo and is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a Chartered Petroleum Engineer. Amir also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Internation Association for Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) and has held board and chair roles with industry bodies including Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA), the Permian Strategic Partnership, and the Permian Road Safety Coalition. Outside work, he enjoys Formula 1, golf, and football, and is married to Marlene with whom he has two children, Luca and Malika.
