Georgios Partasides is an energy systems expert with over 20 years of professional experience across the fields of energy policy, infrastructure planning, and information and communication technologies (ICT). His work has focused on the development and implementation of national support schemes for renewable energy, energy storage integration, and the coordination of large-scale projects such as the GSI Interconnector, a €2 billion subsea electricity link connecting Cyprus with mainland Europe. He has led technical studies on grid flexibility, energy system optimization, and long-term decarbonisation scenarios aligned with EU directives, including RED II/III and the Governance Regulation. He has also managed national RES auctions, designed support schemes for net-metering and net-billing, and contributed to Cyprus's National Energy and Climate Plan. His earlier career includes technical roles in the telecommunications sector, involving hybrid fibre-coaxial networks, mobile 3G systems, and the modernization of cloud-based services. He remains actively involved in digital infrastructure development linked to energy applications. Mr. Partasides is currently a PhD candidate at The Cyprus Institute, contributing to advanced energy modelling using Flextool and OSeMOSYS tools. He has represented Cyprus in international and EU working groups on renewable energy, smart grids, and scenario analysis, with a focus on the energy transition in isolated and semi-isolated systems.
