Peter is the Sector Head of Energy at NEOM. Since joining NEOM, he has had roles leading its energy, water and food sectors, focusing on 100% renewable energy and sustainable systems.

Peter’s rich experience in the energy industry spans over 20 years in Germany and The Netherlands, his home country, and other countries in Europe.

Before joining NEOM, he was the CEO of Innogy SE, (2016 – 2017). A new company he worked on transforming from the German DAX listed company RWE. Innogy SE, focused on renewable energy, network and retail businesses. At that time, Peter worked on making it Germany’s most valuable energy company. Bringing innovative energy solutions while overcoming the challenges of the decentralized and digitized modern energy market.

Prior to that he was the CEO of RWE AG from 2012 to 2016 and the CEO of Essent, the leading Dutch energy utility acquired by RWE in 2009, from 2009 to 2011.
