Roland Janssen is the Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Pte Ltd, based in Singapore. He was appointed as the company’s CEO on 1 March 2025, and also serves as the CMO of Borouge PLC. With over 25 years of experience in the chemicals industry, he drives Borouge’s strategic direction and operational excellence, propelling the company towards transformational growth and success. Prior to his CEO appointment at Borouge, Janssen served as the General Manager of Phillips 66, a US-based diversified energy company where he oversaw the company’s chemicals portfolio. Janssen first joined Borealis in 2007, holding several senior leadership roles globally, including Global Vice President, Energy, Managing Director Americas and President of Borealis Compounds Inc. He achieved double-digit profitability growth of the global Energy business and led the successful start-up of a new production site in North Carolina. Notably, he served as Vice President, Energy at Borouge in Singapore for six years, driving innovation, value creation, and growth. His career also includes impactful roles at The Dow Chemical Company and the Volkswagen Group. Janssen holds a Master of Science degree in Automotive Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Engineering from HTS Autotechniek, The Netherlands.
