Jamil

Jamil Asfour is a global executive with 27 years driving AI-led innovation, hyperscale data-center build-outs, and strategic investments across sovereign ecosystems and Fortune 500s. He has held senior roles with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), and at Apple, IBM, EY, Symantec, and HPE—delivering growth where technology, infrastructure, and finance intersect. Jamil currently serves as Senior Director & Head of Special Projects at Contango, where he deploys AI to unlock step-change efficiency in advanced manufacturing, energy & utilities, and government. His work spans predictive quality and yield optimization, robotics scheduling and digital twins on the factory floor; grid intelligence, demand forecasting, and asset reliability across power and water; and AI-native citizen services that cut cost-to-serve while improving experience. He originates and structures partnerships with hyperscalers, chipmakers, and OT vendors, and designs co-investments/JVs that move proven pilots into production with measurable gains (higher OEE and throughput, lower downtime, energy intensity, and service cycle time). Previously at ADIO, he directed ~US$3.5B in programs catalyzing innovation, localization, and scale-up partnerships. At Apple, he managed an ~US$11.9B global partnerships fund and led 27 M&A transactions while overseeing ML/AI initiatives. At PIF, he worked across the TMT portfolio and complex turnarounds. Across 20+ countries, Jamil has executed 90+ transactions and strategic alliances, forging durable ecosystem plays with leading cloud and semiconductor firms. He is known for diagnosing growth bottlenecks, aligning capital with product architecture, and translating board mandates into measurable outcomes—safely, fast, and at scale. Jamil holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, along with executive diplomas and certifications from MIT, Stanford, and others. He is a YPOmember, contributes to the Global Innovation Index and Global Connectivity Index, and participates in engineering societies in the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Australia.
