Across 12 conference programmes and 380+ sessions, speakers will share diverse perspectives and discuss actionable outcomes aimed at accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more secure energy future.
The Methane Abatement Challenge is an exciting opportunity for high school students to showcase their innovative ideas to reduce methane emissions, empowering them to actively participate in climate action and contribute to a sustainable future.
Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the competition is open to students from schools across the UAE. After a robust judging process, finalists will present their solutions at ADIPEC on 4 November.
Students are encouraged to get out of their comfort zones, leverage their critical thinking skills, engage with their communities and embrace their social and environmental responsibilities.
The Methane Abatement Challenge for Youth at ADIPEC, themed ‘The Essential Fall of Methane Emissions,’ encourages young minds to propose innovative solutions to reduce methane emissions. This competition aims to raise awareness among youth about the climate crisis and energy transition. Participants will compete in three main categories:
Flaring
Solutions to reduce methane emissions from burning natural gas during oil extraction.
Venting
Innovations to minimize the release of methane directly into the atmosphere during industrial processes.
Fugitive Emissions
Strategies to detect and prevent unintended methane leaks from equipment and infrastructure.
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must be a high school students ( grades 11 & 12) resident of the UAE.
A participant can be part of only one team.
Team members should be four maximum.
Individual participation is allowed.
