Norhayati Hashim

Norhayati graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, USA in 1993. She subsequently joined ExxonMobil in 1993 and spent her early years as a project process engineer where she not only thrived, but she excelled demonstrating her resilience and keen aptitude to lead.

In 2004, she joined PETRONAS as a project engineer at Petroleum Resource Development, Upstream. Since then, she has held various portfolios and leadership positions such as Manager of Front-End Engineering and Head of EOR at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). In 2010, she was also appointed as the resource person in EOR under the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA). Her critical involvement in the EOR technology development has helped PETRONAS to venture out and become one of the biggest 7 players in terms of the EOR capability.

In 2016, she was appointed as the Head of Hydrocarbon Recovery Technology at Group Research & Technology (GR&T), PD&T. Subsequently, she moved on to become the Head of Gas Sustainability Technology at GR&T, PD&T and was responsible for providing technological solutions for CCUS to support the PETRONAS MFT50:30:0 aspiration. In addition, she has successfully established the PETRONAS Global Technology Center in Malaysia and the UK, which comprises of collaborations with University Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Heriot Watt University and Imperial College London. The notable achievements are the successful establishment of an off-campus PhD program for PETRONAS staff with these Universities.  Her 28 years of experience within Oil & Gas and her strong technical background, allows her to be both agile and deliver with pace. She has demonstrated this through her firm belief in technology as differentiator, taking ownership of technologies and seize the opportunity for technologies to make a difference to PETRONAS.
