Muhammad Ismail Shah is the CEO of Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) in Norway, the largest and most versatile engineering-scale test center for post-combustion carbon capture technologies worldwide. Since joining TCM in 2011, Mr. Shah has held various high-level management and technical positions. He collaborates closely with joint venture owners, politicians, R&D teams, and authorities to support the accelerated deployment of CCS technologies and achieve Net Zero targets.

With over 17 years of hands-on experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS), Mr. Shah has an extensive background in technology testing, verification, and scale-up. His career also includes significant work in the thermal conversion of biomass to transportation fuels. Muhammad Ismail Shah’s expertise extends to engineering studies, strategy development and execution, and strategic leadership.

He holds a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering from Aalborg University in Denmark and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Pakistan. Mr. Shah's broad experience and leadership skills make him a valuable asset in the field of CCS technology
