She has experience of 19+ years in the industry. Currently, she is a DGM at Hindustan Petroleum Green R&D center, Bengaluru and heading Corrosion Research team of qualified personnel. Prior to which she was Principal Engineer -Corrosion Specialist for a small stint of 3 months with M/s Air Products India Pvt. Ltd. Most of her career was in Larsen & Toubro Group of companies. She has supported around 4 years to Technical support group of Defence IC, L&T. Before which 12 years her contribution lies with in R&D (PRDH) of L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (Erstwhile Engineering & Construction Division) of Larsen & Toubro Limited, Powai, Mumbai.
Her expertise lies in Failure analysis, troubleshooting, Materials Verification/Selection, Corrosion control by various methods-surface treatment, coating & painting, Cathodic Protection, inhibitor evaluation etc., additionally niche areas such as restoration /salvaging materials, material characterization etc.
She has a strong academic background with Doctorate in Corrosion Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay (Jan. 2005), and M.E. and B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from M.S. University of Baroda (1999 and 1997 respectively). She also has one year Post doc. from University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
To her credit, she is conferred Corrosion Awareness Award - Distinction in Corrosion Science & Technology - Industry Sector 2012 by NACE India Section. She has handled 80+ failure analysis for Root cause. To her credit, she has Presented 70 papers in technical forums, published 15 articles in peer reviewed journals, examiner for 4 no.’s M.Tech thesis, 9 best paper awards, 6 internal recognition in LTHE, presented 28 guest/invited lectures, she has reviewed around 16 manuscripts of peer reviewed journals. She has Certification-Cathodic Protection Level I, Thermal Spray Coating Inspector Level I, ASNT Level II in UT, MT, RFI, DPT. She was applicant and recipient of Excellent Laboratory Award in India, 2015 from NACE India Section (NIGIS). She has supported around 25+ awarded projects and 50+ proposals for Oil and Gas sector from materials and corrosion perspective while in LTHE/E&C Division. Apart from functional credentials, she also has good managerial competencies and was in-charge for Materials and Corrosion Laboratory in R&D of L&T and heading Materials & Corrosion group of 10 able engineers for around 6 years. She is a corporate member of AMPP (erstwhile NACE International) and ASM International and has been EC member for CORCON for the year 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and 2019-21. Panelist for TIF on coating specifications.
Her noteworthy contributions in Defence IC include Surface treatment and material related resolutions for K9 Vajra, UVLM, 10SSB, BLT, Pinaka, Nirbhay, MRSAM, RML, IRL, ITTL, VSSC etc. Mini-projects involves Coating on Barrel ID, coating on recessed areas, Coating for Kevlar helmets, Troubleshooting for Induction hardening and arrive at optimum hardening profile for gears and shafts, heat treatment for Al 5083 alloys with its implementation and its periodicity. In LTHE her significant contribution lies in process, vendor qualification for Thermally Sprayed Aluminium coating for offshore jacket legs.
Currently, with M/s HPCL she is responsible for R&D projects in the group. Portfolio comprising of development of products such as inhibitors, high performance paint/coatings, etc. with the major focus being refinery technical services for overall Asset integrity and Reliability of assets of HPCL.
