Xiaojun Huang is the Chief Engineer of Modeling, Optimization, and Data Science at ExxonMobil, where she leads enterprise-wide initiatives to unlock competitive advantage through scalable and responsible AI. Her work spans computational science, data science, and manufacturing modeling and optimization, driving innovation across the energy value chain.

Previously, Xiaojun led one of the industry’s largest geophysics research programs (2014–2017), advancing seismic imaging, reservoir characterization, and geophysical applications across upstream. In 2017, she became Subsurface Digital Executive, spearheading digital transformation in subsurface workflows and co-founding the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) in collaboration with industry, Tech partners and The Open Group.

Her contributions to AI have been recognized with the IBM Global Top 40 Women Leaders in AI Award in 2019.

Xiaojun serves on the Visiting Committee of the MIT Corporation. She holds a PhD in Geophysics from MIT, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physics from Nanjing University.
