Varun Gujral is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the energy sector spanning oil, LNG/gas, power, carbon and renewables. Currently serving as the Country Head for ENGIE in South East Asia, Varun oversees the Group’s operations and strategic initiatives in the region with 2300 people, including asset investment in renewables, local energy infrastructure, and energy management trading (S&EM). His leadership is instrumental in driving ENGIE's mission to provide sustainable energy solutions and advance the energy transition. Alongside this role, Varun also serves as CEO of the GBU Supply & Energy Management in Asia Pacific, where he plays a pivotal role in expanding the company's portfolio and strengthening its market presence across Asia-Pacific. His efforts have been crucial in positioning ENGIE as a leader in energy risk management and decarbonization solutions. ENGIE is a major player in the energy transition, whose purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy. With 98,000 employees in 30 countries, the Group covers the entire energy value chain, from production to infrastructures and sales. ENGIE combines complementary activities: renewable electricity and green gas production, flexibility assets (notably batteries), gas and electricity transmission and distribution networks, local energy infrastructures (heating and cooling networks) and the supply of energy to individuals, local authorities and businesses. Varun is widely recognized as an expert in the energy market and is frequently invited to participate in leadership roundtables and speak at international conferences. He regularly presents on topics such as the role of gas in the energy transition, decarbonization strategies, and developments in the gas, LNG, and power markets, as well as low-carbon fuels.
