The adoption of digital technologies is rapidly transforming maritime-related logistics, enhancing efficiency, safety and sustainability. From predictive maintenance and route optimisation to real-time cargo tracking and automation, digital technologies are helping shipping companies reduce costs, improve fuel efficiency and enhance customer experience. According to Boston Consulting Group (BCG), it is estimated that the sector will need to invest approximately US$1.3 trillion over the next decade to fully realise the benefits of digital transformation. So, while the potential is significant, implementation across maritime logistics is not without its challenges. Key barriers include high upfront costs, data security concerns and the need for sector-wide collaboration to shape a more agile, efficient and resilient industry – one that is capable of addressing modern challenges in global trade and unlocking the progress needed to power a low-carbon, high-growth future.
