Akanksha Batura Pai is Executive Director of Sinoda Shipping Agency, Strategy Head for Raks International, and Director of Seamind Blue Ocean, where she drives digitalisation, talent development and sustainable growth in maritime services. She advises Sailor’s Cart, a seafarer-focused e-commerce platform, and led Sinoda to become Singapore’s first FONASBA member, where she now sits on its Education & Quality Committee. A passionate industry advocate, Akanksha is IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador Emerita, serves on the Singapore Shipping Association Council, and is a Global Ambassador for Mission to Seafarers, WISTA and Maritime SheEO. She contributes to the Nautical Institute and leads the Women in Logistics community at the Singapore Logistics Association, while mentoring maritime start-ups through PIER71. She also serves as Liaison Officer at the Consulate-General of Malta in Singapore and is a Director on the NUS Business School Alumni Association Board. Akanksha holds a BBA (Hons), MSc (Management), CEMS MIM from National University of Singapore, a Professional Doctorate from European International University and most recently a Postgraduate Diploma in Executive Maritime Management from the World Maritime University. Recognised globally, she has received multiple honours including Seatrade 20 Under 40, Top 100 Women in Shipping (#1 in 2025), Maritime SheEO Leader of the Year, and Shiptek Rising Star 2025

Shaping the future of maritime logistics with digital technologies

The adoption of digital technologies is rapidly transforming maritime-related logistics, enhancing efficiency, safety and sustainability. From predictive maintenance and route optimisation to real-time cargo tracking and automation, digital technologies are helping shipping companies reduce costs, improve fuel efficiency and enhance customer experience. According to Boston Consulting Group (BCG), it is estimated that the sector will need to invest approximately US$1.3 trillion over the next decade to fully realise the benefits of digital transformation. So, while the potential is significant, implementation across maritime logistics is not without its challenges. Key barriers include high upfront costs, data security concerns and the need for sector-wide collaboration to shape a more agile, efficient and resilient industry – one that is capable of addressing modern challenges in global trade and unlocking the progress needed to power a low-carbon, high-growth future.
