Gary Hicok is currently the Executive Chair of Utilidata, an NVIDIA-backed AI startup that makes it easy for hardware companies to embed AI into critical energy infrastructure. In 2024, he retired from NVIDIA as the senior vice president of Automotive Hardware and System where he oversaw the NVIDIA DRIVE platforms used to develop self-driving vehicles. Previously, Gary served as senior vice president of NVIDIA’s core logic business unit and the mobile business unit. With NVIDIA since 1999, he held a variety of management roles with responsibilities ranging from ASIC design to system hardware and platform development. Prior to NVIDIA, Gary spent more than two decades at Evans and Sutherland, VLSI Technology and Cirrus Logic. He served in a range of ASIC, architecture, marketing and system engineering roles. He has authored 40 issued patents and holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Arizona State University.
