Yerlan Akkenzhenov He was born in 1979 in Almaty. He graduated from the Adilet Higher School of Law, Astana University. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as a chief specialist, chief manager, director of the Department of oil and oil products export of Trade House KazMunayGas LLP. From 2004 to 2006, he was a trader of crude oil in Chevron Texaco Global Trading, Director of KazMunayGaz Singapore, Singapore. From 2006 to 2008, he was Director of the Department of Oil and Petroleum Products Exports at KazMunayGaz Trading House JSC. From 2008 to 2010, he was Commercial Director of Kazakhoil Aktobe LLP. From 2011 to 2012, he was Advisor to the General Director of KazMunayGas Onimderi JSC, Director of the Oil and Oil Products Export Department of KazMunayGas Refining and Marketing JSC. From 2013 to 2014, he was Deputy General Director, General Director of Rompetrol Bulgaria, Bulgaria. From 2015 to 2016, he was Chief Director of Oil and Petroleum Products Trading, Chief Retail Director, Advisor to the General Director of KMG International (Rompetrol), Romania. From 2016 to 2020, he worked in private entities related to the refining and transport of crude oil and petroleum products. From 2022 to 2023, he was the Head of Oil Products Marketing Department of NC KazMunayGas JSC. From 2023 to 2025, he was Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On 19 March 2025, he was appointed Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Decree of the Head of State.
