COO, Engineering & Construction
Petrofac
With more than 25 years of diversified experience, Elie Lahoud, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Petrofac Engineering and Construction (E&C) has led the development of high value, complex, multidiscipline EPC projects for onshore upstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, as well as offshore capital projects and renewable energy infrastructure. Elie joined Petrofac at its main hub in Sharjah in 1997. Under his leadership, Petrofac has executed numerous successful multibillion dollar projects in many countries with a large portfolio of renowned national and international clients. Elie was appointed COO of Petrofac’s global E&C business in 2020 with an overall accountability for delivery of EPC projects driving business value to all stakeholders. Elie has also been instrumental in steering the company’s strategy to align with the new energy outlook. Prior to becoming COO, Elie served as Group Managing Director, with P&L responsibility for the onshore EPC business in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq and CIS countries as well as offshore capital projects. As a member of Petrofac’s Group Executive Committee since 2017, Elie has been supporting the development of a diverse and inclusive culture. He served as executive sponsor for several business initiatives aimed at developing the competencies of Petrofac’s talent while maintaining and growing the organisation’s competitiveness, such as the E&C Digital Transformation initiative, Delivery Assured Programme, Future Think Tank, and more recently the Evolve25 initiative, in addition to the Petrofac / American University of Beirut (AUB) Masters Programme. Elie also sits on the International Advisory Board for the faculty of engineering of AUB from where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, strengthening the collaboration between both organisations to provide continuous opportunities to distinguished talent.
More comprehensive global disclosure regulations are encouraging companies to reduce emissions across their value chains, as well as within their own operations. Frameworks such as the European Union’s (EU) Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and initiatives like the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s climate disclosure rules have driven a new era of supply chain transparency and accountability. Through collaborative decarbonisation, supplier engagement is opening new avenues for cost efficiency, innovation and resilience. Emerging business models are shifting this dynamic, as suppliers and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors co-invest in decarbonisation initiatives that align incentives and embed long-term value into project delivery. Meanwhile, structured supplier programmes and green finance tools are enabling the adoption of low-carbon materials and collaborative emissions tracking. To decarbonise supply chains at scale and deliver collective progress, operators will need to move beyond transactional procurement and form long-term partnerships that support innovation, risk-sharing and emissions reductions.
