Amir Gerges joined the ADNOC Executive Leadership Team as Group Chief Health, Safety & Environment Officer in 2024. In his current role, he is responsible for leading the HSE Function and championing the journey towards world-class HSE across all ADNOC's portfolio. He also serves as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP). Prior to his current role, Amir worked for Shell for 26 years, where he held a variety of significant technical and business roles. His journey with Shell began in Egypt in 1998 as a facilities engineer, leading him to assume various leadership roles in the UK, Norway, Korea, Russia, the USA, and The Netherlands. Before joining ADNOC, he served as Shell's Vice President of Group Safety in the Netherlands (2020-2023), Vice President of Permian Assets in the United States (2016-2020), and Integration Lead for Shell’s acquisition of BG (2014-2016).

Amir holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, both from the American University in Cairo. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEl) and a Chartered Petroleum Engineer (CEng). His leadership and expertise have also been acknowledged through his roles as a board member of the Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA), the Permian Strategic Partnership, and as Chairman of the Permian Road Safety Coalition.

Amir is married to Marlene, and they are proud parents of two young ‘Irish twins’, Luca and Malika. Outside of his professional life, Amir is a passionate Formula 1 enthusiast, an eager golfer, and an aspiring football player.
