What do you see as the future direction of digitalisation in energy?
At KAPPA, we consider digitalisation as one of the three pillars of our future development. With the proliferation of mass well metrology, where you have a task repeated on tens, hundreds or even thousands of wells, it is fundamental that these tasks are automated.
We see the immediate and achievable challenge as mass data processing and applying some degree of automated analysis to allow engineers to manage by exception. Central to this, is the ability to push and pull data and data analysis between third-party systems and workflows. Data and model possessiveness will not be accepted in the future. The future is open.
In all this, we firmly believe that we are a long way from the robots doing the really clever stuff that only intelligent humans can do. As a result, we will see an increase in ‘just in time' training that is highly focused on individual needs at a particular point in time. We won’t be replacing engineers with a button just yet!
What innovations or solutions will you be showcasing at ADIPEC 2023?
2023 is a milestone year for KAPPA. We have made the first commercial release and deployment of our new Automate platform with the first automated workflows in pressure and rate transient analysis. We will also be showcasing the latest Orchid integrated completions diagnostics platform that is particularly applicable to the nascent unconventional market in the Middle East.
We are also showing our new nodal and network packages, Grenat and Rubis plus.
Another product on show at ADIPEC 2023 is our GooRoo mixed reality guidance rig, which has pan-industry 4 applications and is already in commercial use in Europe. It increases learning time, reduces waste and increases quality using a simple interface and cost-effective hardware you can get from Amazon and a bit of smart AI.
We look forward to our customers being able to explore the GooRoo at ADIPEC, as it is a lot of fun for tech enthusiasts and has a real bottom-line impact for multiple industries.
Have you exhibited at ADIPEC before and what has been your most successful moment at the show?
We have been to ADIPEC for many years and have been stunned at the growth of the event. It comes down to the possibility of sitting down and having good conversations with people from the Middle East and, increasingly, the world, in one place.
Why do you think ADIPEC is the ideal place to be?
The KAPPA group has an increasingly diverse offering ranging from new energy and automation to mixed reality and training. However, our roots and our core are firmly in the oil and gas industry. The oil and gas industry needs to be part of the transition, and our Middle East clients, particularly the NOCs and IOCs, understand this. We are committed to being at ADIPEC and plan to announce our plans at the show to establish a permanent presence in Abu Dhabi.
