ABU DHABI, 2 November 2022 – Young ADIPEC, the annual youth initiative at ADIPEC, the world’s most inclusive and international energy platform, this year marked 10 years of successfully empowering and inspiring the energy industry’s future leaders.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and fully supported by Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the annual youth programme has consistently expanded over the years. This year, in partnership with Abu Dhabi University, Young ADIPEC 2022 welcomed 800 students from 25 schools.

Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, Executive Director, People, Technology and Corporate Support Directorate at ADNOC, said: "ADNOC places a great emphasis on the learning and development of our youth, as they are the nation's greatest asset and are crucial to enabling the UAE's long-term socioeconomic goals.

“This year, ADNOC’s stand at Young ADIPEC has helped students enhance their learning, stimulate creative thinking, and provide exposure to state-of-the-art technologies and future careers in the energy sector. We have been excited to welcome students to the stand."

Young ADIPEC 2022’s Experiential and Edutainment programme has grown to six zones, with each zone hosting a series of hands-on workshops for students - the Energy Zone hosted by ADNOC; Engineering Zone sponsored by OPTIO; Cyber Security Zone sponsored by ARDECO; Artificial Intelligence Zone sponsored by ZhenHua Oil; Technology and Innovation Zone in partnership with Abu Dhabi University and the 10th Anniversary Zone of Young ADIPEC.

The Youth programme featured Young ADIPEC Talks, a platform for the next generation of energy professionals to connect with the industry while offering industry leaders an opportunity to connect with, engage, inspire and empower the youth of today. Talks topics included cybersecurity, leaders, communication, engineering, technologies, digitalisation and more.

As part of the programme’s aim to introduce youth to what a career in the energy sector may look like, student were taken on field trips to visit an oil field site, training centre, innovation centre, workshop facility and had the opportunity to manufacture products.

Christopher Hudson, President of dmg events, organisers of ADIPEC 2022 said: “Encouraged by international collaboration, we’ve come a long way in developing Young ADIPEC and are proud to host an expanding number of students. This year, they have benefitted from an increasing diversity of workshops for hands-on experience that continues to encourage students to explore what the industry has to offer. The wide variety of Talks ensured hundreds of students are exposed to the most important areas of the industry to engage, inspire and empower youth.”

At the ADNOC Energy Transition and Road to COP 28 stand at Young ADIPEC, students learned about ADNOC’s youth programs and how they could get involved in solving some of the future’s most important challenges by building their skills today. They explored four interactive exhibition areas; The Energy Transition; Sustainability; Road to COP28 in the UAE; and Get Involved, which had students leave with a simple question: “How can I get involved in creating a sustainable future for my community, my country and our planet?”

ADIPEC 2022, which runs from 31 October to 3 November, has seen record global participation, with attendees from over 160 countries and featuring 28 dedicated country pavilions. The forum provides constructive thought leadership that will facilitate a pathway to successfully navigate a progressive and pragmatic energy transition.
