Luigi Crolla

Luigi has two decades of experience in process engineering; having designed, developed, overseen and commissioned a variety of processes within the oil & gas and energy transition sectors; working for venture capitalists, EPCs and licensors.
As principal process engineer and SME in Energy Transition Process Technologies within Kent, Luigi specialises in the fields of low carbon synfuels, blue/green hydrogen production and carbon capture technologies. 

Luigi is currently executing the post FEED phase for a flagship blue hydrogen process based at the Stanlow Refinery in the UK. Here he has provided technical evaluation and technology integration for the complete process, which includes the reformer unit, the amine-based carbon dioxide capture unit and the dehydration package. 

A few notable career highlights include:

• Developing a 10,000BPD GTL process, using a novel catalytic partial oxidation reactor for NG reforming and innovative internal reactor design for the Fischer Tropsch section to target a specific product slate.
• Designing a 500kT/annum Waste to Synfuels facility, which included an Acid Gas Removal unit and a hydrogen purification unit.
• Developing the process technology of a 100kT/hr Biomass to BioSNG process, which included the design of the gasification reactors and methanation system.
• Providing technical leadership for the delivery of a 100MW green hydrogen facility.
