Ilyas Khurshid
Researcher
Khalifa University of Science and Technology
Ilyas Khurshid is serving as a Researcher (Postdoc-Fellow) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University. This research project focus on a better understanding of the physics behind the chemical EOR techniques through history matching of experimental observations, geochemical reactions, surface complexation, and DLVO Theory. Additionally, evaluate the water compatibility and potential oil recovery from UAE carbonate reservoirs through modeling of the CEOR technique.
Prior to joining Khalifa University, Ilyas served as a faculty member at UAE University. Before joining academia, he served as a senior reservoir engineer at KPOGCL. Ilyas’s research interests are fluid flow in porous media, geochemical modeling, formation damage analysis, carbon capture and storage, and Production Optimization. He is the recipient of the Samsung Global Hope Scholarship, Japanese Government Research Fellowship, and Superior Academic Performance Scholarship at Seoul National University. He did his BS in Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar and M.S. & Ph.D. degree in Energy Systems Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea.
