Richard is an engineer at heart with a passion for technology. He loves solving problems. 

After a successful career in the Oil and Gas industry for over 18 years, Richard came into the Maritime industry 6 years ago working initially with one of the world’s largest independently owned shipping company’s before going on to set up Ninety Percent of Everything (90POE). 

90POE’s vison is to help maritime Customer make better decisions by enriching their maritime expertise with digital intelligence. 

“What I’ve learned during my career to date is that even the very latest technology is pointless unless it helps improve something. Too often, businesses invest in huge overhauls of their IT without accurately mapping their investment against the benefits it brings. That’s such a waste – of the tech and the investment. The lesson is that the shiniest new technology may not be the most relevant or appropriate. 

I’ve worked at BP, for an independently owned shipping business, and also in start-ups. So I hope I can see the world from the perspective of businesses big and small, public and private. Although their infrastructure may be very different, they share the same basic need: to create measurable value to the bottom line. The route to that outcome tends to be more efficient, safe and effective operations. 

I am passionate about starting with the challenges businesses face and working backwards. That way technology becomes the answer and never disappoints.”
