Aida Araissi is the Founder and CEO of the Bilateral US‐Arab Chamber of Commerce (Bilateral Chamber) and the education foundation Teachers Educating Across Cultures in Harmony (TEACH).
The Bilateral US‐Arab Chamber was founded in 1997 to promote trade, investment, training and educational exchanges between the US and Arab World. Since its inception and under her leadership, the Bilateral Chamber is now widely recognized as a cross industry expert resource for advancing collaborative economic, and education solutions founded on the principals of mutual respect and understanding. Stakeholders include Fortune 500 companies, academic and policy influencers, economic development boards, and city and state agencies.
For the last 18 years, Araissi has provided strategic planning, program management, and full life cycle advice on hundreds of multi‐sector inbound and outbound business missions on behalf of public and private organizations. Her extensive experience in foreign direct investment promotion has ranged from developing roadshows on behalf of governments like Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Ghana to knowledge based society initiatives such as the Qatar Science & Technology Park. She is a frequent speaker at the Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Houston and Dubai, the US Department of Commerce’s ACCESS conferences, the annual Weftec water industry conference in Chicago and New Orleans, the Africa Leaders Summit in London and ADIPEC’s Women in Energy in Abu Dhabi.
She has received numerous international awards for business advocacy including the U.S. Commercial Service Award for Excellence in Export Promotion from the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia in 2008; the US Embassy in the UAE in 2007; the US Consulate General in Basrah, Iraq in 2013. In 2010 Her Excellency, Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, presented Araissi with an award commending “her dedication and commitment to strengthening commercial relations between the UAE and United States.” In 2015, she was highlighted as Leading Women to Watch in 2016 by Amazons Watch after she received the US Congress Commendation award from the State of Georgia for her work in bridging U.S‐MENA –Africa development.
Ms. Araissi speaks English, Arabic and French. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from the University of Houston. She serves on multiple civic and strategic boards including the U.S. Committee for the World Petroleum Congress, the Export Academy, the Nature Conservancy and the Yellowstone Park Foundation. Her work with TEACH has spanned over 18 states in the United States touched thousands of students with global awareness programming aimed at inspiring American teachers to empower the next generation to learn about the world and appreciate diversity.
