Geopolitical Advisor Middle East, Intelligence, Security & Crisis Management (ISC)


Peta Tarlinton serves as BP’s Geopolitical Advisor for the Middle East and a member of BP’s Intelligence Analysis Unit (IAU). Based in the UAE, Peta provides in-depth threat analysis, with a focus on the business impact of geopolitical and security developments across the Middle East. As part of her role, she is also IAU’s lead in developing and using new technology platforms to drive holistic, innovative approaches to security threat and risk management globally.

Peta was previously based in Iraq, where she built and ran BP’s Iraq Intelligence Team in Basra and Baghdad. Prior to joining BP in 2011, she was a policy and security advisor to both the Australian Government and US military leaders. Between 2004 and 2010 Peta undertook numerous operational deployments in the Middle East and received several military and public service commendations for her roles in intelligence provision, hostage recovery support and operational leadership.

Ms Tarlinton holds degrees in law, international relations, and an M.A. in Middle Eastern studies.
