BP Upstream Technology

John Peak is currently the Vice President of BP’s Subsurface Technical Centre (STC). The STC adds value to BP’s global businesses by providing specialised, scarce and fully integrated subsurface expertise, and by developing and driving the deployment of step-change subsurface technologies. The team comprises geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and chemists located in both BP Upstream hubs, in London and Houston. BP’s EOR Laboratories in Sunbury and the Centre of High Performance Computing (CHPC) in Houston form part of the STC.

John joined BP in 1984 with a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. He has held a wide range of roles including Petroleum/Reservoir Engineer, Development Engineer, Subsurface Manager, Commercial Coordinator, Appraisal General Manager and Technology VP in various locations, including the North Sea, Norway, Colombia, Angola, Egypt, the Middle East and Russia.
