Dr Lena Wilson CBE
As one of Scotland’s most influential women, Lena is a passionate and inspirational business leader and mentor. She was the first person in Scotland from a public sector organisation to be appointed to the Board of a FTSE 100 company.
Lena is the first female and youngest Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise, accountable for the largest Non Departmental Public Body budget in Scotland and a global workforce spanning 30 countries. Leading from the front, she ensures Scotland keeps its enviable reputation as ‘the’ place to do business and has been commended on helping deliver economic development for Scotland.
In an international private and public sector career spanning over 25 years, she has held a range of positions covering all aspects of economic development in most parts of the world, including a senior advisory role with the World Bank in Washington DC. She has worked in over 60 countries in Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia promoting Scottish business interests or advising governments on foreign direct investment and private sector development.
She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Intertek Group plc, Ambassador for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a member of the Financial Services Advisory Board (FISAB) and until very recently, chaired Scotland's Energy Jobs Taskforce, set up by the First Minister in response to the challenges facing the industry.
She is a passionate commentator and speaker on international business, leadership and talent development.
She was awarded a CBE in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours list.
