M ISKANDAR B BAKERI holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Arizona, Tucson, USA.

He joined PETRONAS in 1989 upon graduation and has been serving various Technical and Leadership roles and functions mainly in Downstream Business. Leading up to his current role, he was appointed as Head of Downstream Business Excellence in 2019, Head, Project Directorate Downstream in 2018, CEO of PETRONAS Fertilizer Sabah Sdn Bhd from 2017-2018 and MD/CEO of ASEAN Bintulu Fertilizer in 2010.

Iskandar played a pivotal role and was entrusted to lead mega project i.e Project SAMUR (Sabah Ammonia Urea Project) in 2013 with Total Investment Cost approximately USD 1.8 Billion, which successfully went into commercial operation in May 2018. As part of National and Industry contributions, Iskandar was appointed as Chairman of Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) in Sectorial Training Committee for Oil, Gas and Energy (OG&E) in 2019. The program has managed to address the needs of Malaysia’s Human Capital (Talents) in OG&E Sector through shaping the industries Competencies, Certifications and Training needs for core and in-demands skills in the area of Oil Gas & Energy.

He currently serves as the Chairman of Malaysian Standards for Gas and Petroliam, a member of Malaysia's Engineering Technology Accreditation Council and a member of Engineering Leadership Council for International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP). Effective June 2022, he assumed the position of Head, Group Technical Solutions, Project Delivery and Technology.

Iskandar is married with two daughters and son and during his leisure time he love playing golf, enjoy riding his road and mountain bike. He is also an avid photographer.
