JAPAN OIL, GAS AND METALS NATIONAL CORPORATION (JOGMEC)
Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) was established in 2004 as a new governmental organization with the primary mission of securing stable supplies of oil, gas and metals for Japan and users around the world by supporting E&P, stockpiling and other initiatives. Upon its establishment, JOGMEC integrated the functions and human resources of its predecessors, the Japan National Oil Corporation (JNOC) and the Metals Mining Agency of Japan (MMAJ).
Our oil and gas upstream units are involved in three main activities:
1)Promotion of E&P activities of Japanese companies through financial and technical support; 2)Research and development of E&P technology; and 3) Strengthening cooperative international relationships with oil and gas producing countries by conducting joint technical studies and surveys, technical collaborations, training programs, and other activities with overseas national oil companies (NOCs) and ministries of natural resources.
JOGMEC possesses sophisticated know-how and experienced professionals in terms of oil and gas producing countries. Since the days of JNOC, we have financed over 300 projects, conducted 54 technical surveys in 25 countries and invited about 2,300 technical experts to participate in our training programs from 53 organizations in 45 countries as of March 2011.
In the UAE where the most Japanese oil companies’ oil development interests lie, JOGMEC signed a contract with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on the implementation of a joint study on CO2EOR to be applied to a giant offshore oil field. The study has been conducted in a optimum manner. http://www.jogmec.go.jp/english/index.html
